Goharshad Mosque

(Established: 818-821 AH) is a historical monument left over from the Timurid period and one of the famous mosques in Iran. This mosque is now considered part of the Razavi Shrine.

In 818 AH, Goharshad, daughter of Amir Ghiyath al-Din Tarkhan and wife of King Shahrukh Timurid, ordered the construction of a mosque on the southern side of the shrine of Imam Reza. The construction of this building was completed in 821 AH. Goharshad was one of the famous women of the Timurid era who rendered many services to the people during her husband’s reign and is always remembered with good will, and with the construction of this mosque, her name will be immortalized forever.
