About Mirza
Mirza Yunus Ostad Sarai (October 11, 1970 – December 1, 1911), known as Mirza Kuchak Khan Jangali, was an Iranian nationalist activist and a leftist fighter during the Constitutional Revolution.
He was the revolutionary leader of the Forest Movement, the President of the Socialist Soviet Republic of Iran, and one of the famous generals of Gilan from Rasht. He, who studied religion in his youth, was part of the revolutionary forces that succeeded in conquering Tehran during the Constitutional Movement. He then returned to Gilan and took over the leadership of a movement that aimed to liberate this Iranian province from Russian occupation; a movement that became known as the Forest Movement. Kuchak Khan gathered various groups of political forces and disaffected classes around him. He succeeded in shifting the goal of the revolution from anti-foreign constitutionalism to socialist republicanism and established a Soviet republic in Gilan in June 1920.
