Gholamreza Takhti
(September 25, 1980 – January 17, 1967)
Also known as Jahan Pahlavan Takhti, he was an Iranian freestyle wrestler and political activist. At the 1956 Melbourne Olympics, he won the second gold medal for Iranian athletes in the Olympics after Emamali Habibi. With this medal, along with the two silver medals he won at the 1952 Helsinki and 1960 Rome Olympics, he is the most decorated Iranian wrestler in the Olympics to date. Takhti also won two championships and two runner-up titles at the World Wrestling Championships, as well as a gold medal at the 1958 Tokyo Asian Games during his career. He was also active in wrestling and zurkhaneh sports, and was the owner of the Iranian Pahlavani armband for three consecutive years. Takhti is also a popular and famous figure in Iranian popular culture, and in Iranian sports culture, many consider him a symbol of “wrestling” and “chivalry.”

Professor Ebrahim Javadi, Professor Seyyed Ali Akbar Heydari, Hajj Agha Mohammad Reza Taleghani, Mr. Abbas Jadidi, Professor Rahim Parnia, Mr. Khojasteh, and members of the museum’s board of trustees were held on January 15, 1947; One of the lasting actions of this museum is the design and production of the world champion Takhti gold and silver stamp, which was unveiled on the occasion of his anniversary by professors and world and Olympic champions; the presence of these dear ones at this unveiling and their guidance and suggestions for the museum’s future programs were taken into consideration by the museum’s management and board of trustees.
