Haitham bin Tariq Al Said
(born October 13, 1954)
He is the Sultan and Prime Minister of Oman. He ascended to the throne on 11 January 2020, following the death of his cousin Sultan Qaboos, in accordance with his will. Haitham bin Tariq Al Said was a prominent member of the Al Said royal family of Oman, and one of the reasons he was appointed as the King of Oman was that Sultan Qaboos had no children. Haitham was born in Muscat and is the grandson of Sultan Taimur bin Faisal. He served in Qaboos’ cabinet for several decades and was previously the Minister of Heritage and Culture.
